List of Catholic Celebrities ranked by fame and popularity. Catholicism is a Christian religion that is full of great traditions. Several famous people were raised in the faith and many still practice the religion to this day. Some famous folks even use their Catholic backgrounds as inspiration to make films, write jokes and take acting roles that are rich with Catholicism.

Who is the most famous Catholic celebrity? Lindsay Lohan tops our list. “The Canyons” actress' parents are both Catholic and she was raised in the faith. As an adult, Lohan explored other faiths like Kabbalah and Scientology, but more recently she has stated that she is still a Catholic. Other famous actresses who are Catholic include Selena Gomez, Nicole Kidman and Denise Richards.

Several famous film-makers are also Catholic. Mel Gibson is a member of a small sect of Catholicism called Traditionalist Catholicism. He brought his faith to the big screen with his 2004 film "The Passion of the Christ." Martin Scorsese was raised by devoutly Catholic Italian parents. He still practices the religion today. He made waves in the faith with his controversial film "The Last Temptation of Christ."

Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway was raised by Catholic parents, and, in her teens, she even considered becoming a nun.  After her brother came out as gay, Hathaway distanced herself from the church. In fact, her entire family converted to Episcopalianism due to that faith's more open view towards being gay.
Denise Richards
Denise Richards is a Catholic.  She became even more devout after her mother passed away in 2008.  She has stated that her religion helped her through that tough time.

George Clooney
Both of George Clooney's parents are Catholic, and he was raised as a strict Roman Catholic.  Nowadays, it seems that Clooney leans more towards an Agnostic or Atheist point of view.  He has been quoted as saying, "I don’t believe in Heaven and Hell. I don’t know if I believe in God. All I know is that as an individual, I won’t allow this life — the only thing I know to exist — to be wasted."
Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio was raised as a Catholic, but he does not appear to be very religious today. 

Lindsay Lohan
Both of Lindsay Lohan's parents are Catholic and she was raised in the faith.  As an adult, Lohan explored other faiths like Kabbalah and Scientology, but more recently she has stated that she is still a Catholic.
Mel Gibson
Both of Mel Gibson's parents are Catholic, and he was raised in the faith.  Today, he a member of a small sect of Catholicism called Traditionalist Catholicism. He brought his faith to the big screen with his 2004 film The Passion of the Christ.
Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman was raised by Catholic parents and attended Catholic school growing up.  She remained steadfast in her beliefs until she married Tom Cruise.  Kidman followed Scientology, amongst other religions, throughout the marriage.  After her divorce from Cruise in 2001, Kidman returned to her Catholic roots.

Nicole Scherzinger
Nicole Scherzinger was raised by Catholic parents, and her grandfather is a priest.  She still follows the religion today.

Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez's parents are both Catholics, and she was raised in the faith.  She is still practicing today, and she even wore a promise ring for a period of time. 

Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens was raised as a Roman Catholic, and she is still active in the religion today.  She has even been photographed attending mass.
