A Black Panther movie has been gestating at Marvel Studios for almost as long as there has been a Marvel Studios. It's rare that a month goes by without some comment or rumor surrounding the film. Dozens of actors have been attached to the role over the years, from Wesley Snipes the newest, trendiest young stars who may suit the part (like Chadwick Boseman of Get on Up). Regardless, whoever gets the role has some pretty big shoes, and expectations, to fill.
Black Panther, if handled right, would be a completely new genre for Marvel. Just as Captain America: The Winter Soldier was an espionage thriller, and Guardians of the Galaxy was a space opera, A Black Panther film could be Marvel's answer to James Bond.
But who to cast in such a pivotal role? These are those rare actors who could lead the powerful race of Wakandans, the actors worthy of taking up the mantle of the Black Panther! Who would you like to see in the role? Cast your votes below.

Chiwetel Ejiofor
He has a grace and almost cat-like elegance about him, he certainly comes across as regal, and, most importantly, is an impossibly talented actor.
Denzel Washington
Washington is another name that gets mentioned a lot relating to T'Challa, though at this point, he may be better suited for T'Chakal. He's no stranger to action movies or being a badass, and he'd be great for an older take on Black Panther.
Derek Luke
A long time front runner for the part, Derek Luke has yet to jump on the superhero bandwagon and has the build, charisma, and drive to play T'Challa.
Djimon Hounsou
A bit on the older side at this point, but whenever he's in the suit, mask it up and throw a stunt guy in there. He's got poise and grace, a commanding presence, and a powerful voice.
Idris Elba
The charm, the grace, the size - he's already practically James Bond, let's make him a superhero, too. This one's easy.
Wesley Snipes
This guy has been lobbying for the part since before Marvel Studios even existed. Before he was Blade, he was vying for Black Panther, but it never came to pass. He still fits the part so well, but if he's too old he'd make a great T'Chaka, which would be a fun Marvel passing-the-torch nod.
Edi Gathegi
This guy was mishandled in X-Men and certainly deserves another go as a superhero He's got the fan following, the charm, and the youthful exuberance to carry a franchise.
Chadwick Boseman
He's currently in every movie around, so you know this guy certainly has the studio's vote. He's young, versatile, and has both the build and drive for the role.
John Boyega
This guy is about to be everywhere after booking a lead in Star Wars Episode VII, but he's still not a superhero yet. He'd have the box office pull and youth the studio may be looking for.
Andewale-Akinnuoye Agbaje
He's powerful, commanding, and has a strong sense of authority without having to do a thing. Plus, his accent is killer and could totally be from Wakanda.
