Balm in Gilead (Coeurage Theatre Company at Actors Circle Theatre)
Set in a cafe in 1960‘s New York that Lanford Wilson actually frequented, Balm in Gilead tells the story of the "riff raffs, the bums, the petty thieves, the scum, the lost, the desperate, the dispossessed, the cool." In this volatile world, two people look to escape the cycle of f*tility that surrounds them.

Show Run: January 27th - March 4th
Mine ( Elephant Theatre)
"Profane, funny, and packed with more crotch-grabbing than vintage Madonna, the current revival of Miguel Piñero’s prison drama "Short Eyes" at the Los Angeles Theatre Center burns with vivid life." - LA Times

8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, 7 p.m. Sundays. Ends Dec. 18. $30, limited $10 seats on Thursdays. (866) 811-4111 or www.thelatc.org. Running time: 2 hours.
Short Eyes (The Los Angeles Theatre Center)
The beautiful Van Den Blink (founder of Little Beast), who has the large eyes and tense demeanor of a woodland creature, plays many scenes half turned away from the audience, almost as though she recognizes Annie’s sneakiness and is ashamed to show her face. Relax! You’re young! Two guys are in love with you! Life could be a lot worse. - LA Times.

Show Runs: Feb. 9–March 10. Thu.–Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 7 p.m. (323) 960-7788 or www.plays411.com.
All My Sons (The Matrix)
Joe Keller, an up-by-his-bootstraps manufacturer, is African American and Kate, his plain-spoken, practical wife, is white. Their once-close neighbors, now estranged and living far away, are Asian American. This may better reflect the America of 2011 and may open additional alleyways of meaning, but the approach is at odds with itself, because in all other ways the production remains clothed in 1947, when anti-miscegenation laws and other forms of segregation still blanketed America. What's more, some of the alleyways prove tricky to navigate, including a deprecatory use of the word "yellow" that acquires a newly racialized connotation that no one on stage seems to realize. - LA Times

Show Runs: 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays. Ends. Dec. 18. $25. (323) 960-7773 or www.matrixtheatre.com. Running time: 2 hours, 20 minutes.
The Adventures of Little Red Riding Hood, of course (Santa Monica Playhouse)
"An enchanting journey through the Black Forest replete with romance, lots of laughs, and musical and lyrical ideas brazenly borrowed from Gilbert & Sullivan…filled with ever-surprising delights that will lift up your spirits." (This Week in Show Business). It’s a hilarious, family-friendly reworking of the classic story, anything but a Grimm fairytale.

Show Run: Sunday, Feb 19 12:30p to 2:00p
The Cost of an Erection ( 2nd Stage)
A Manhattan raw-space condo is the setting for a story that uses the clever metaphorical conceit of building design and construction to illuminate the challenges that two couples face in rebuilding solid foundations for their shaky marriages.

Show Run: Feb. 11–March 18. Thu.–Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 2 p.m. (323) 661-9827 or www.theblank.com. Casting by Scott David, Erica Silverman, and Bob Lambert.
