These albums span all music genres – though tend to focus largely on popular music genres like rock, hip-hop, R&B and pop – and cover both new '90s bands that exploded on the scene along with older acts from previous generations that continued making music at the time. The list order is based both on votes and on individual lists made by users – to have the most influence on the rankings, add your own list of favorite '90s albums.

Popular trends in the '90s largely carried over from the previous decade, including a fascination with teen pop and dance pop music, along with the growing popularity of hip-hop and rap albums among a mainstream audience. The early 1990s were dominated by the West Coast gangsta rap sound, particularly following the release of Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" in 1992. The mid '90s were notable for the shocking, violent deaths of two of the era's most popular rappers – Tupac Shakur and Christopher Wallace (aka Notorious BIG). Wallace's producer and collaborator, Sean "Puffy" Combs, went on to dominate the mainstream hip-hop charts in the ensuing years.

Contemporary R&B and soul – sometimes in the '90s grouped under the term "urban music" – also remained extremely popular with acts such as En Vogue, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, Whitney Houston, Babyface, and R. Kelly dominating the charts.

Rock in the '90s was notable for the explosion of the "grunge" sound in the early part of the decade, with bands like Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam bringing the grimy, less polished style of the Pacific Northwest to mainstream radio. Later, the grunge trend melded with the popularity of what was termed "alternative rock," an umbrella term incorporating styles as varied as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins, and Sublime. British acts making up the "Britpop" sub-genre of rock, which remained popular throughout the decade, included Blur, Oasis, Pulp, and Supergrass.

Set yourself up to be in a good position to get your next car. If you are going to purchase a car with little or no money down and you plan to replace it within 36 months, you will likely end up owing more money on the car than it's worth. This could create a cycle of taking negative equity from one car to another, further burying yourself in a negative trade cycle.
Don't Waste Your Time
Before you start negotiating, make sure the dealer has the particular car you want in stock. If he doesn't, he can usually trade for it with another dealer. This can take a few days, and there is no guarantee that the dealer can get the car for you. If not, you've wasted your time. Moreover, dealers typically offer better deals on cars they have in stock.
A Call Ahead Saves Time
Call the dealership before going there and ask the salesman to have the car you want to drive ready to go. If you don't, it could have a dead battery, be buried behind other cars or even be stored off-site.
Check the Switch
If a dealer proposes to switch you from a new car to a used car, or vice versa, get all the information on the second car. Then go home and research its market value. Take any false urgency such as, "This pre-owned car is a very special, rare, low-mileage car that may be impossible to replace," with a grain of salt.

Top Retro Hero Movies
When I say retro movies, I mean concepts or stories that can be traced to before World War 2. This could be called the pre-Golden Age era, where the first superheroes were being invented. Yes, Batman fits this too, having been created in 1937. So these are movies about heroes in the 1930s, in city scenes filled with Art Deco. I personally like Art Deco a lot, but movies that successfully pull off a retro feel earn my respect. Here are a few of them.

Dick Tracy
This movie has a visual feel like little else. Warren Beatty plays the role of the hard-boiled crimefighter, dishing out justice to the funny, comic-faced gangsters of the time. Not to mention Madonna in one of her more popular movie roles. Crazy colors, crazy-looking crooks. 
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Sky Captain Joe Sullivan (Jude law) destroys robots using his trusty P40 Warhawk fighter. He teams up with a former lover, Polly Perkins (Gwyneth Paltrow), in tracking down Dr. Totenkopf and preventing him from conquering the world. The movie features Laurence Olivier in one of his last roles (the movie showed after he died). Plane-chasing around those Art Deco buildings gives a really interesting feel. 
The Phantom
Billy Zane plays the ghost who walks, who gets his power from a skull ring made from the nails used on Jesus Christ at the cross. He tries to stop the Sengh group, his classic enemy, from getting their hands on magical artifacts that may destroy the world. The skulls and all, and its being set in 1938 - really retro. 
The Rocketeer

Pilot Cliff Secord (Billy Campbell) comes across a jet pack that allows him to fly. The FBI and even Nazis try to pounce on him, eager to get their hands on the jet pack, something that could give them an unparalleled advantage in the sky. Cliff however pulls a fast one on every foe, and keeps the bad guys from getting the rocket. And when you hear Cliff being described as a hood ornament, you know it's that Art Deco thing. 




The Shadow
Alec Baldwin plays the role of a vigilante given mystical powers during his time in Asia. His secret is in danger upon encountering a telepathic reporter, Margot Lane. RIP to our world's greatest achievers; those who changed the way we live and the ways we thought.
