The Biggest 2016 Oscar Nomination Surprises
When it comes to 2016 Academy Award nomination surprises, they're (mostly) happy surprises, with plenty of people and movies that garnered unexpected Oscar nominations. So whether it's an incredible and worthy film doing much better than expected (Mad Max: Fury Road received 10 nominations, including Best Picture) or a near perfect indie that grew bigger and bigger, reaching the heights of a Best Picture nom (Room), this year's Oscar noms were full of pleasant surprises.

From well-deserved, but still surprising, career Oscars (Sylvester Stallone in the Best Supporting Actor category for Creed) to comedy directors trying their hands at drama (Adam McKay, director of Anchorman, was nominated for Best Director for The Big Short), you're sure to be surprised by some of the choices made by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.

These are the biggest 2016 Oscar nomination surprises! Vote up the actors and films you're most surprised to see among the esteemed Oscar hopefuls.
