Legend of Zelda is one of the first hits for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. It is also one of the best adventure game series to this day. In Legend of Zelda you play a boy named Link (a common trap non-gamers fall in is calling the playable character Zelda.) who sets off on a journey through the kingdom of Hyrule in search for the princess, Zelda.
The series has had a few different restarts, but has shown up on all consoles that Nintendo has produced (including a few from the failed 3DO system that are not contained on this list as they should never be mentioned along with these other Legend of Zelda games.) Almost every game features Link in various stages of youth, on a quest assigned by either a fairy (Navi being the most annoying character in the history of video games) or an old man to save the kingdom and rescue Princess Zelda from the clutches of the evil Ganon (or Gannon-Dorf or Gannon Pig or whatever form he takes on in that game.)
All of the games feature sword and shield combat though with "Link to the Past" we are introduced to the glories of the hookshot and boomerang. Fun, calculated puzzles and rupees are also a series standard. There is a debate on if all of the games are in the same universe as each one features Link at a different age and Hyrule in a different time, but the few that have actually looked into it can put together a fiendish timeline the puts all games in the series in one world.
With all of these choices, which one will be considered the Best Legend of Zelda Game? Grab your sword and shield and hit the dungeons and vote for your favorite Zelda Game.
