Sodas (also known as "soda pop," "pop" or "soft drinks") are among the most popular beverages in the world, particularly in the US, where the average resident consumes 150 quarts per year. These sodas are available in a variety of flavors, some of the most popular including colas, lemon-lime, root beer, ginger ale and a variety of fruits. Excessive consumption of sugary sodas, not balanced with an otherwise healthful diet and exercise, can lead to obesity, tooth decay and a series of other disorders. But an occasional soda now and again can be a pleasant, refreshing treat.
