The Most Famous 90s Popstars (Then and Now)
When most people think of music in the 90s, grunge is typically at the forefront. However, there was also quite a revolution going on in pop music - after all, it was the era of boy bands and the birth of the wildly popular "TRL," too. Granted, while popsters and grunge rockers were crazy popular, there was a huge movement in female empowerment anthems as well, a la Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, the huge success of Alanis Morissette - and, of course, the no. 1 selling artist of the '90s (as well as the no. 1 selling female artist of all time), Mariah Carey.

This list of 1990s solo artists includes before and after pictures and will clue you in to where some of your favorite 90s performers are now. The artists on this list represent what some people would consider the best musicians of the 1990s. The list will answer the question: what have my favorite 90s celebrity musicians been doing since their rise to fame? Take a trip down '90s memory lane.

Alanis Morissette
Morissette has not stopped making music. The singer released a series of albums in the early and mid 2000s with varied levels of success. But when her album Havoc and Bright Lights was released in 2012, it hit the Billboard 200 at number 5, proving that she still has it!
Jewel
Jewel continued to make pop music in to the early 2000s. Her 2003 album 03/04 charted at number 20 on The Billboard Hot 100. These days, the singer is topping the country charts with her new musical stylings, as well as doing children's albums.
Lenny Kravitz
Kravitz has continued to write and produce music well beyond the '90s. In 2011, he released his album Black and White America. In addition to music, he has also experienced a fair amount of success with acting, appearing in movies like The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
BECK
Beck has maintained a high level of success, releasing several albums since the 1990s. He recently appeared on "Saturday Night Live" in support of his new album Morning Phase, which was released in January 2014.
Beck Then
Beck's 1994 hit single "Loser" saw the singer achieving a high level of notoriety, and the track cracked in to the Billboard top 10. He also gained both critical acclaim and popularity for his 1996 song "Where Its At," a single from his album Odelay.
Lenny Kravitz Then
Lenny Kravitz has produced and written songs for a lot of major acts, as well as writing and performing his own music. He grew in popularity in the early '90s and really struck a chord with his 1993 album "Are You Gonna Go My Way." The record debuted at number 12 on the Billboard charts and established Kravitz as a major presence on the pop music scene. The album spawned hit singles like "Are You Gonna Go My Way" and "Believe."

Alanis Morissette Then
Alternative pop singer Alanis Morissette rose to prominence with her angry lyrics and desire to seek retribution against the man that broke her heart. Morissette essentially wrote the soundtrack to teen angst in the '90s. Her album Jagged Little Pill produced tracks like "Ironic" and "You Oughta Know" that are still just as well known today as they were in the '90s.

Jewel Then
Jewel was discovered in 1994 and released her first studio album Pieces of You (featuring "Who Will Save Your Soul") in 1995. By 1998, she was singing "The National Anthem" at the Superbowl!
Shania Twain Then
In the mid to late '90s, Shania Twain broke free from the confines of being solely a country singer and experienced a tremendous amount of success as a crossover artist. She scored success with songs like "Come on Over" and "Man, I Feel Like a Woman."

Shania Twain Now
Twain continued to enjoy crossover success in to the early 2000s. And she still continues to perform. In fact, Twain recently returned to the stage by way of a long term engagement at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Currently, her Vegas show is scheduled to go on until the end of this year.
