The 2014 Oscar picks for Best Picture include only the absolute best movies from 2013 and early 2014. But which movie was the absolute best and deserving of the Academy Award for Best Picture? Vote for which 2013 movies are most deserving of the honor below! Also see the 2014 Oscar noms for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Director.
Most Hollywood critics will say that the 2014 Oscar for Best Picture is a two-horse race. On one side, the visually stunning masterpiece of "Gravity," where Alfonso Cuaron takes viewers on an out-of-this-world journey through space, all in magnificent 3D. On the other side, "12 Years a Slave," directed by Steve McQueen, is an intense and heavy true story of a free man sold into slavery. Both films were easily among the best of the year but there can only be one winner.
There's always room for an upset though with many other great 2013 movies willing and ready to play the wild card. "American Hustle," "The Wolf of Wall Street," "Her," "Dallas Buyers Club," and "Nebraska" are just a few likely to get a good deal of consideration by the Academy, if nothing else.
So which movie are you rooting for? The sci-fi adventure of "Gravity," the emotional journey of "12 Years a Slave" or one of the other great films from throughout the year? You might not get a vote at the Oscars but that's not stopping you from sharing your picks here.
