The Most Anticipated Films of 2014
List of the most eagerly anticipated movies opening in 2014. Before the year gets going, it's interesting to take a look at what films people are most excited about seeing in the coming year. Will these movies live up to expectations? Will sleeper hits come to dominate people's thinking about 2014 films, with the most conventionally exciting titles eventually fading into the background? Voting on a list like this in advance can potentially answer these questions down the road. (Don't believe me? Check out the Most Anticipated Films of 2013 here!)

2014 will continue many of the trends set in the preceding years. Remakes remain a staple of big-budget Hollywood, with new takes on "Robocop" coming to theaters. Expect a steady stream of sequels, threequels, reboots and beyond as well, with "Godzilla", "Need For Speed," "Amazing Spider-Man 2," "Veronica Mars," "The LEGO Movie," "22 Jump Street," "Dawn Of the Planet of The Apes," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "Transformers: Age of Extinction," "Muppets Most Wanted," "300: Rise of an Empire," "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For," "The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay," "Expendables 3," and "The Hobbit" all getting follow-ups in 2014. Comic books will continue to be fodder for tentpole films, with sequels to "Captain America: Winter Soldier" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past" hitting theaters, as well as the return of some great directors with David Fincher's "Gone Girl," PT Anderson's "Inherent Vice," and Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel."
