67 Awesome International McDonald
List of international McDonald's menu items you won't find in the U.S. This list includes weird, delicious, gross, and unusual McDonald's menu items from all around the world. If you have traveled internationally and visited a McDonald's abroad, you may have noted that while some of the menu items in McDonald's in other countries are similar to U.S. items, there are many McDonald's items that you have never seen before.

Why is McDonald's menu different in other countries? It's simple: they want to sell their food in those countries and people around the world have different tastes and cultural customs that allow them to enjoy some fast food over others. The fast food masterminds behind the McDonald's empire are smart.

For example, because cows are generally not consumed in India, there are no menu items made from beef on the Indian menu. Instead, they serve up paneer (a popular South Asian cheese) and chicken-based menu items that are seasoned with masala and cumin and topped with mint mayonaise (a sauce similar to India's popular mint yogurt sauce). They also serve plenty of vegetarian McDonald's foods. It's a perfect example of how McDonald's uses regional spices and food preferences and adapts those to their international McDonald's menus.

While McDonald's abroad locations adapt their flavors and ingredients to please local flavor palettes, they don't take this too far. Often, McDonald's in other countries will take local favorites and fuse them with classic McDonald's dishes and come up with weird McDonald's menu items in other countries. What are some of the weirdest international fast food items? "Los Beefos"--meatballs covered in crunchy breading from German McDonald's and "Bubar Ayam"--rice porridge topped with chicken strips from Malaysian McDonald's is also pretty unusual. Menu items that fuse local fare with traditional McDonald's flavors (like fried breading and chicken strips) do this because people who come to McDonald's still want the "Western food experience" when they eat foods they are used to.

Next time you go to Micky D's and order your same old Big Mac, chicken nuggets or french fries you can be happy (or sad, depending on your taste) to know that in other countries they are eating Chicken Maharaja Macs, McPatatas and Spinach and Parmesan Nuggets rather than your favorite McD's items. You can take comfort in knowing that there are plenty of McDonald's secret menu items if you want to mix it up.
