"Dallas Buyers Club" movie quotes tell the true story of one man who sought to bring better HIV drugs to himself and others in the 1980s. The biographical drama film was directed by Jean-Marc Vallee using a screenplay by Craig Borten and Rachel Rothman. The film, which was based on the true story of Ron Woodroof, wowed at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival before it's limited theatrical release on November 1, 2013.
In "Dallas Buyers Club," electrician and rodeo cowboy Ron Woodroof (Matthew McConaughey) is diagnosed with HIV, which in 1985 was relatively unknown. He's given AZT, the only approved drug at the time, and a short time to live. The drugs nearly kill Ron, who then seeks out alternative treatments, much to the ire of his physician, Dr. Eve Saks (Jennifer Garner).
Ron discovers a multitude of treatments available in other countries, though unapproved in the United States, and begins not only smuggling them into the states for his own use but distributing them to other HIV patients. Along with fellow patient Rayon (Jared Leto), the two form the Dallas Buyers Club which creates a network of smugglers, sellers and buyers for these drugs. Though the FDA Customs Agents are hot on his trail, Ron continues his fight to bring these viable treatments to those who need them the most.
"Dallas Buyers Club" is sure to get some consideration come awards season but will have competition with other films in theaters at the same time such as "Inside Llewyn Davis," "Out of the Furnace," "The Last Days on Mars," "12 Years a Slave," "Frozen," "Oldboy," "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," "Delivery Man," "Nebraska," "Sunlight Jr.," "Last Vegas," "Ender's Game, "The Counselor," "Captain Phillips," "Gravity," "Don Jon," "Rush, and "Prisoners,".

Feel Like a Human Again
Dr. Eve Saks: "Why are we here?"
Ron Woodroof: "Nice restaurant, beautiful woman, I swear I feel like a human again."
…
Dr. Eve Saks: "What about your mom?"
Ron Woodroof: "Mama was a painter, kind of a gypsy woman, you know. She got tired of all the bulls***, you know what I mean?"
Dr. Eve Saks: "She made this?"
Ron Woodroof: "Yep"
Dr. Eve Saks: "Your mom?"
Ron Woodroof: "Yep. Now you ain't gotta hang that or nothing. I know how you like everything perfect."
Dr. Eve Saks: "I do not!"
Ron Woodroof: "You do to."
Dr. Eve Saks: "I will hang this. I'm gonna hang this."
Ron Woodroof: "Yeah"
Dr. Eve Saks: "Don't you want to keep it?"
Ron Woodroof: "You enjoy your life, little lady, you only got one." [to waiter] "Thank you, sir. That's my favorite little grape juice." [to Eve] "Hey, thanks for coming."
Dr. Eve Saks: "To wildflowers"
Ron Woodroof: "And bone-in ribeyes"
Aside from their battles over patients and Ron's struggles with his health and the law, Ron and Eve sit down for a nice steak dinner. They savor the moment, the wine and the food as individuals because neither know how many other chances they will get to do that together.
I Only Got One Life
Ron Woodroof: "I only got one life. I want it to mean something."
As Ron highlights, he only has one life, one chance to make an impact on the world. He didn't get into the Dallas Buyers Club to become a drug lord, he wanted to help people, even if it meant breaking the law.
Players On the Dallas Cowboys
FDA Customs Agent: "Walker, Dorsett, Blunt, Newsome, Jeffcoat, these are patients?"
Ron Woodroof: "Yes, sir"
FDA Customs Agent: "They're also names of the players on the Dallas Cowboys."
Ron Woodroof: "You know, that's a hell of a coincidence."
FDA Customs Agent: "That's a little ridiculous."
Ron Woodroof: "Well you said it."
FDA Customs Agent: "Can you prove these are patients?"
Ron Woodroof: "Can you prove they are not?"
When Ron is stopped at the border with a load of drugs, the FDA Customs Agents question the patient names on his bottles as interestingly enough they match names on the current Dallas Cowboys roster. Ron urges them to prove that they are not patients.
Ain't No Helping Me
Rayon: "Do you like this dress because I think the neckline's a little plunging?"
Dr. Eve Saks: "Rayon, the whole purpose of this study is to determine if AZT is helping people."
Rayon: "Come on, Eve, you know there ain't no helping me."
Dr. Eve Saks: "That doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying."
Rayon: "Why you so good to me? Bless your little heart."
Dr. Eve Saks: "Shut up. Just promise me you'll show up for the rest of the trial."
Rayon: "I promise you that I will try my very best."
Dr. Eve Saks: "I want you to mean it."
Rayon: "Okay"
A tender moment between Dr. Eve Saks and Rayon is shared. Rayon sees no hope in Eve's efforts to help treat HIV but that isn't stopping Eve from trying. Eve implores Rayon to fight on just as hard as she is.
They're Merely Unapproved
Richard Barkley: "You're importing illegal drugs for sale. It's a very serious offense."
Ron Woodroof: "They're not illegal. They're merely unapproved."
When Ron is stopped at the border with a load of drugs, Richard Barkley wants to charge him with drug smuggling. As Ron explains, the drugs are not illegal, simply not yet approved.
Tested Positive for HIV
Dr. Sevard: "Mr Woodroof, you've tested positive for HIV. Have you ever used intravenous drugs? Have you ever engaged in homosexual conduct?"
Ron Woodroof: "Homo? Homo? You saying homo? You've made a mistake."
Dr. Sevard: "Mr Woodroof, we estimate you have 30 days left."
Ron Woodroof: "Got a news flash for y'all. There ain't nothing out there that can kill Ron Woodroof in 30 days."
When Ron first learns of his HIV diagnosis, he is astounded, both by the fact that these doctors are asking if he is a homosexual, then later when they give him only 30 days to live. He doesn't accept either suggestions.
Good Meds Out of Mexico
Ron Woodroof: "There're drugs they just released for testing and I know this hospital's one of the sites. I need it!"
Dr. Eve Saks: "It doesn't work that way, Mr. Woodroof."
…
Dr. Eve Saks: "Where are you going?"
…
Ron Woodroof: "They've got good meds out of Mexico that's better than what you can get here in the states."
Ron seeks to be included in a study operated by Dr. Eve Saks for HIV patients but it's more complicated than a simple ask. With no luck there, he finds his own solution, medicines available in other countries.
You Could Be Making a Fortune
Dr. Vass: "This is protein. It's totally non-toxic."
Ron Woodroof: "You can't buy this in the United States?"
Dr. Vass: "Not approved"
Ron Woodroof: "You could be making a fortune out of this."
When Ron meets with Dr. Vass and learns that the treatments available in Mexico are better than those in the states, he sees an opportunity. Not only can he help people, but he can make money in the process as well."
I'll Cut You In
Rayon: "I been looking for you, Lonestar."
Ron Woodroof: "Listen, Tinkerbell, unless you got more cash or new clients, I'm busy."
Rayon: "You got enough for 20 of us? … You don't deserve our money."
…
Ron Woodroof: "I'll cut you in, 5%."
Rayon: "25, take it or leave it."
A simple encounter with fellow patient Rayon leads to an expansion of his drug distribution business. Together, Ron and Rayon form the Dallas Buyers Club to give members access to HIV treatments available only in other countries.
You're Treating These People?
Ron Woodroof: "Arigato"
Dr. Eve Saks: "What are you doing here?"
Ron Woodroof: "Well, I live here."
Dr. Eve Saks: "Where's Rayon? You two roommates?"
Ron Woodroof: "Uh, not exactly. What are you doing here?"
Dr. Eve Saks: "Roger Thompson, this is my patient. You're treating these people?"
Ron Woodroof: "All of them treating themselves."
Dr. Eve Saks: "With what?"
Ron Woodroof: "Vitamins, peptide C, DDC, anything but that poison you're hawking… So you ever wear any colors? Seems like every time I see you all I see is white, white coat, white shoes, white office…"
Dr. Eve Saks: "Tell Rayon I was looking for him and I am telling my patients to stay away from here."
Ron Woodroof: "Why?"
Dr. Eve Saks: "Excuse me"
Ron Woodroof: "Say, you want to go grab a steak sometime? I know it's red…"
Looking for Rayon, Dr. Eve Saks stumbles upon Ron along with records for patients she too is treating in her study. She is not approving of what she suspects Ron and Rayon are doing whatsoever.
