A list of DC Comics movies. These are films based on DC comics such as Batman, Superman, and Green Lantern, characters that live within the DC Universe. Unlike other comic book companies which really didn't start having films made until the turn of the century, DC Comics have been a bit more popular with several films being released in the 80's and a number of movies and serials dating all the way back to 1951. Ironically, movies based on DC Comics almost put the comic book movie genre out of business during the 1990's (the Batman sequels). Today though, DC Comics films are in the middle of a renaissance. DC Comics is currently owned by DC Entertainment, which in turn is owned by Warner Bros. Entertainment and they have been putting out some excellent DC Comics movies as of late.
