1/16/13: Pauline Friedman Phillips, better known by her pen name of "Abigail Van Buren", died of complications from Alzheimer's. Van Buren was best known for her "Dear Abby" advice column. She was 94. Her identical twin sister Eppie Lederer, who wrote advice with the nom de plume Ann Landers, died in 2002.

1/14/13: Star of Diff'rent Strokes, Conrad Bain, died from natural causes in his home in California. Bain was best known for his roles as Philip Drummond in "Diff'rent Strokes" and Dr. Arthur Harmon on "Maude". He was 89.

1/7/13: Director, David R. Ellis, died from unknown causes in South Africa. He was the director of such films as "Final Destination 2", "Cellular" and "Shark Night" Ellis also directed Samuel L. Jackson in the cult hit film "Snakes on a Plane". He was 60.

2/1/13: Ed Koch, the former mayor of New York City, died of congestive heart failure in New York City. The acid-tongued politician served as mayor of NYC from 1978-1989 and would later go on to write books, host radio shows and even take a turn as a judge on The People's Court. He was 88.

1/7/13: Long standing TV personality and host of "California's Gold", Huell Howser, died of causes yet to be determined. He was best known for his travel show on PBS, "California's Gold." Howser also appeared on episodes of "The Simpsons" and at the end of the "Winnie the Pooh" movie in 2011. He was 67.
